Will
you design my company logo?
Yes. Contact me with as much information about your
needs of this logo. Then I'll ask you some questions about
the logo before I give you an estimate.
Can
you redesign my existing logo?
Yes. Send a copy of your logo and let's discuss the
changes.
Can
you create a cartoon illustration for me?
Yes. Contact me and we can discuss the
details.
Do
you require a deposit to start a design or an illustration
project?
Yes. Upon discussing your project I can give an
estimate.
Do
you know how to draw?
Yes. Even though you don't have to draw to create
graphics on the computer, it does make me more of a capable
artist by illustrating at my drafting table. Ultimately the
work that I do is a combination of my hand drawn artwork
imported to the computer. The computer is a wonderful tool
that I use to help produce artwork for my
clients.
Do
you ever laugh when you create cartoons?
No. It makes it hard to draw.
How
do I know if you are the right artist for my project?
Once I have a chance to hear your project requirements,
then I can tell you if the project is one that we should
work on together.
Who
owns the artwork that you create for clients?
I do. I follow the standard copyright terms of
professional illustrators in relation to artwork that I
create. Except for logos, the copyright of the art, and the
original artwork, remains with the artist. Specific
reproduction rights are sold to the client, which vary with
each client and their needs and the intended usage of the
artwork. To keep my rates reasonable, I generally retain the
copyright on the art. For an extra fee, I will sell a full
copyright.
Who
owns the rejected sketches that you created for my logo?
I own all of the preliminary sketches generated when
developing a logo design. On occasion, a client will request
to use one of the rejected versions of a logo -- which is an
additional charge for additional art.
If
I put my project on hold, do I still have to pay you?
Absolutely. I'll charge you for the work done before it
was put on hold. If you hire a contractor to build a new
room onto your house and you decide not to move in to it,
you still have to pay the contractor.
I
can get a logo done for $49 on other internet sites. Do you
create cheap logos?
No. I don't use templates or clip-art for the work I
design. Everything I design or illustrate is original
artwork. It would be a shame to see your competitor with a
similar logo as yours. Contact me to see how we can work
together.
I
can get design services done cheaper with my friend's
sister's boyfriend's nephew. Why should I hire you?
I've been working as a designer/illustrator since 1981.
And I will still be in business when your friend's sister's
boyfriend's nephew decides that he doesn't like doing it
anymore and takes your artwork with him.
We
are a Non-profit organization, can you donate your
services?
I am trying NOT to become a Non-profit business. I
design and illustrate for a living. Let's discuss your
project and decide what arrangement would be
best.
Are
you looking to hire a graphic designer in your studio?
No.
Are
you Kirk James the Blues musician?
Yes.
Why
do you play music AND create graphics?
These are two things I really enjoy doing. And I
couldn't pick just one, so I'm doing both. And yes, it takes
up almost all of my time.
Do
you also pinstripe motorcycles and hot rods?
Yes. By hand with a Mack brush and 1-Shot paint, I
pinstripe Motorcycle Helmets, Welding Helmets, Hot Rods, Bar
Stools, Chairs, Guitars, Glass Vases, Tiles, Lamps, Bottles,
Martini Shakers, Ladys Shoes and Tool Boxes. Or anything
else that stays still long enough.
Don't
you already have enough to do?
Yep.
Did
you know that if you switched your first and last names it'd
be similar to the captain of the Star Trek Enterprise?
Wow... never heard that one before.
